Other Side of Darkness
Disclaimer: I don't own Weiß Kreuz. Tsuji is a character from the Glühen season, but this fic takes place near the end of the first season, after Sakura is kidnapped by Schwarz but before the Summoning.
Schwarz was an unstable group; they would betray their bosses and maybe even each other in a heart's beat. Tsuji Mayumi had no idea what Eszett was thinking by having them around, but as she was merely a lowly scientist in their employment, she had no right to question them. The Summoning was also coming up soon, so she was supposed to be preparing this comatose girl, who had not aged since the day she fell into a coma, but Tsuji's mind was elsewhere.
As Tsuji walked down the brightly lit hallway, she saw Schuldig exiting a room. Of all the members of Schwarz, she hated Schuldig the most, and the feeling was mutual. "Are you tormenting that girl again?" Tsuji asked, referring to the brown-haired teenage girl Schwarz had kidnapped the same day Eszett had arrived in Japan.
Schuldig smirked. "You mean Sakura? She's very cute, don't you think?"
"Why did you kidnap her?"
"You make it sound like I'm hurting her. I've done nothing further than kiss her."
Tsuji felt her stomach turn. "Ugh, you really are disgusting."
The smirk on Schuldig's face vanished, and his eyes narrowed. "You should watch yourself," he warned, stepping up to Tsuji. "I'm not a good person at all," he whispered into her ear. He then roughly brushed past her and continued down the hallway.
"And neither am I," Tsuji muttered under her breath, and then she looked toward the room Schuldig had just left. The door was slightly ajar, so she walked up to it and opened it all the way. The inside of the room was dimly lit, and upon the bed sat a teenage girl with long brown hair - Schuldig had said that her name was Sakura. How very typical, Tsuji thought.
"Who are you?" Sakura asked, lifting her head to look up at Tsuji.
Tsuji didn't answer; instead, she stepped up to Sakura, leaned over, and cupped the younger girl's chin. Tsuji examined Sakura's face carefully for what probably felt like a minute to Sakura, and then she suddenly and quickly kissed Sakura on the lips.
Sakura jerked back and tried to get as far away as possible from Tsuji (which wasn't very far at all, as the bed was right up against the wall). "W-What are you doing?" she managed to force out. Her eyes were wide in fear, and Tsuji noticed that they were the same color as cherry blossoms.
"I wanted to know what Schuldig saw in you," Tsuji answered, smirking. "He does this to you often, doesn't he?"
Sakura turned her face away. "Yeah," she replied, her cheeks slightly red, "but I guess your kiss was a little nicer."
"You're only saying that because you don't want to make me angry," Tsuji assumed, and Sakura flinched at those words. Tsuji chose to ignore Sakura's impolite reaction and sat down next to her on the bed. She leaned in closely to Sakura, and said, "Hey, if you want to escape, I can cut off the power and make the people here think that they've been discovered by Kritiker."
Sakura examined Tsuji suspiciously, although her eyes were still filled with fear. "Why would you do that for me?"
Tsuji's smirk became wider. "That's my little secret," she replied. Because I feel like pissing Schuldig off, she thought privately.
"I don't trust you," Sakura admitted. "But if the power goes off, I'll take advantage of the chaos, and if I'm caught, I won't turn you in."
"Of course you wouldn't. You don't even know my name."
Later, things worked to Tsuji's advantage when Kritiker really did infiltrate this place, although they had just missed Eszett's personal. However, one person did stay behind to be found by Weiß, but not the person Tsuji had expected. Sakura was strange girl, so willing to sacrifice herself for another, Tsuji thought.
