Kurumi had traveled halfway around the world for reasons beyond her control, and she was finally beginning to feel content. For her, lately the best times of the week had been when she went to purchase flowers alone, as she often meet that certain young Japanese woman who spoke little English but was fluent in French. That woman had said that she was traveling around Europe with her best friend, and they were staying in England for three weeks.
Two and a half weeks had passed, and Kurumi supposed she had fallen in love with that woman, and yet she dared not confess her feelings. It was her turn again to purchase flowers, and the shopping streets were less crowded than usual. This would be last time they had a chance to meet. It would all be over soon, and Kurumi would soon no longer be bothered by that deep stirring within her body.
"Kurumi-chan!" that young Japanese woman called out. She had such a pleasant voice, Kurumi thought.
Kurumi turned around and faced the woman she loved. "Hello, Sakura-san," she greeted with a large grin.
Sakura returned Kurumi's smile. They began to talk, and the words they exchanged were pleasantries that barely registered in Kurumi's mind. At least until Sakura asked, "So, what's the name of the flower shop you work at, anyway?"
"The Kitten's House," Kurumi answered. "I think the name has some special meaning to the other florists."
A flash of surprise was briefly visible on Sakura's face, and then she smiled mysteriously. "Kurumi-chan, does a man named Fujimiya Aya work there?" she asked, laying her hands on Kurumi's shoulders.
"Then, can you tell him that his sister and I are happy?"
"Of course! But why? Are you an ex-girlfriend?"
Tears began to well up in Sakura's eyes. "Thank you, Kurumi-chan," she whispered, leaning in close to Kurumi. "Thank you."
Sakura's face was very close to hers, Kurumi noticed. In the next moment, she wasn't sure what came over her. She supposed that she could no longer fight her feelings. She had traveled halfway around the world for reasons beyond her control, and she didn't want to have any regrets.
